Kosovo to Host Tourism Conference

The American Tourism Society will hold its fall 2010 conference in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, from Oct. 25 to 27. ATS said this will be the first tourism conference held in Kosovo, which gained its independence in February 2008.
The 20-year-old ATS is an organization of tourist offices and tour operators that provide networking and promotion for “transformational” destinations. Most of those destinations are in Europe’s former communist states and the Middle East.
The event program includes a post-conference product development tour to southern Kosovo and Tirana, Albania, Oct. 28 to 31. The National Tour Association will co-sponsor that tour, and Tourism Cares will organize a community-service project for ATS delegates.
