Latin America in the Limelight of FITCuba 2011Tourism Fair

Since Mexico is the guest country of the Havana Tourism Fair, tourism company Habaguanex S.A. suggests some places in the city of Havana where this Latin American nation has left its mark. This cultural grand tour has been designed thanks to the research conducted by expert Rafael Fernandez Moya.

The tour –unveiled at the opening of the fair- kicks off at the Arms Square and moves on to the American Fraternity Park, home to statues of Benito Juarez and other founding fathers of the Americas.

It also includes different spots around town related in one way or another to the history of both Mexico and Cuba.

For its part, the Venezuelan delegation attending the 31st edition of the International Tourism Fair FITCuba 2011 said today its top priority is locked on putting the country on the map as a global travel destination.

Spokespeople from that team also pointed out that the Bolivarian Government is attending the fair with a 77-square-meter booth that displays a wide array of the nation’s tourist products focused on nature.

Some of the Venezuelan delegation’s highlights include Isla de Margarita, Puerto Ordaz (Orinoco), Canaima, Caracas and Los Roques, plus the South American nation’s cuisine.

The same sources added that a State-run tour operator (Venetur) and the newly-founded Conviasa Airline are also attending with packages of hotel services, entertainment, recreation and leisure. They are joined by a trio of private tour operators.

Since 2005, Venezuela has been steadily participating in FITCuba in an effort to beef up commercial ties, map out strategies, policies and actions in this particular market, an endeavor that pursues the fostering of tourism as a way of social, sustainable development.
