New Eurodam Caters to Older Market
Spectacular, glitzy and mega are words that will probably never be used when describing the Eurodam, Holland America’s newest ship. The Eurodam is the first of a new “signature” class of ships and is the largest in the fleet by a few tons.
Holland America ships are distinctive and although the architects and designers have done a welcome job of renovating the ship by opening up the public spaces and cabins and adding new colors, much has stayed the same, albeit with some new twists.
Since her launch this summer, Eurodam spent part of the year in Europe before starting a series of cruises from New York to ports in New England and maritime Canada. She’ll stay the winter in the Caribbean before returning to Europe.
This is an adult ship. There are no zip lines, rock walls, or surfing simulators. While the HAL club for teens and kids has been expanded, it doesn’t dominate the ship. The children onboard appear to be attached to multi-generational families, everything from mom and dad, to grandparents, and a few uncles and aunts for good measure.
