Nicaragua Undertakes Projects to Attract Cruise Business

In an effort to increase cruise tourism, the Central American nation of Nicaragua announced it will build a pier on San Juan del Sur on the Pacific side. The news was unveiled at Cruise Shipping Miami 2010.

Additionally, the entire port will be remodeled to include restaurants and shops. Other plans for the San Juan del Sur region include furthering hotel development and revamping the overall destination. Nicaragua’s other main port, located in the Pacific town of Corinto, also will be remodeled in the coming months.
