Obama, Family Had Dinner at San Cristobal Private Restaurant

Out of all places where he could have eaten, he chose this one. It was raining, there was a sea of people flooding the streets, temperature was high, Central Havana was red hot and there were several men dressed in black, Hollywood-style, with cars in black, Hollywood again… and the current president of the Unites States was hungry.

Obama and family arrived in San Cristobal, a relatively new bistro, which features something special I didn’t know and I presently imagine. Everything happened there, 50 meters away from my door. The “man” was eating and I was eating too. “What’s going on here?” I asked playing the fool, since I already knew the answer.

“You cannot walk this way”, an officer replied as he’s programmed to give only one answer. “But I live there”. He didn’t even answer. I don’t know how I managed to go through the crowd on the sidewalk. I was half a block away… moving forward would have been suicide.

No La Guarida or Floridita. No Bodeguita or La Torre. San Cristobal is now the heart of Cuban cuisine. People were noisy at the street. The black beast, a name given to the presidential car, was surrounded by beast men –also in black – who didn’t let me see the famous limousine or the figure.

Obama later walked out, that’s what I thought due to the applauses and the noise. Nobody knows the menu handpicked by the first U.S. president that comes to Cuba in nearly 90 years.

Nobody knows where he’s heading now. I haven’t eaten yet and San Cristobal seems to be a good place… it’s certainly going to be in fashion. I hope they don’t raise the prices. Did Obama pay in dollars or CUC?
