Panama: The Best Business Travel Destination

Panama, the Tocumen airport, two hotels in the Panamanian capital city and Copa Airlines stood out in the World Travel Award, also known as the Tourism Oscar, held in Quito, Ecuador, as they won important prizes, such as “The Best Business Travel Destination of Central America”, the ATP reported on Tuesday.

The World Travel Awards are one of the most important awarding ceremonies in the world of tourism, described as the excellence world benchmark in the travel industry.

The Tourism Authority of Panama announced that, during the ceremony, our country won 5 of the event’s most coveted awards, including the ultimate trophy to “The Best Business Travel Destination of Central America”.

Panama competed in the Central America category. Since the country has been awarded five of the most outstanding prizes, the importance of Panama as a travel destination in the region has been strengthened.

Along with “The Best Business Travel Destination of Central America” awarded obtained by Panama, Tocumen’s airport was labeled “The Leading Airport in the Region of Mexico and Central America”; and Copa Airlines, “The Leading Airline in the Region of Mexico and Central America”. Both awards recognize Panama as a destination, hub and portal to the rest of the world.

The Panamanian hotel sector also stood out in the ceremony with awards in two categories: Bristol Hotel Panama, as the “Leading Business Hotel in Mexico & Central America”; and Waldorf Astoria Hotel as “New Leading Hotel in Mexico & Central America”.

Panama was given the awards in front of an elite audience made up of representatives of the travel industry, who attended the World Travel Awards ceremony held in August at Itchimbía Cultural Center, in Quito, the Ecuadorian capital.

The World Travel Awards feature four rounds. The awards are given to the regions of the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia. These awarding ceremonies are considered to be one of the top events in the travel industry. These ceremonies are attended by leaders of governments and the travel industry; as well as international journalists.
