PATA Moving Forward to Implement New Strategy Development

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is preparing for a platform change to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances of the travel industry. In an attempt to remain relevant to its members, PATA initiated a plan for creating a platform of change over the last few years, which required the organization to take a phased development approach.

The first phase required the skills of an experienced developer to take the business apart and put it back together again. This saw the appointment of Greg Duffell to the position of chief executive officer 18 months ago with a mandate from the Board to implement structural, operational and governance reform. This has resulted in a more robust and transparent financial and business operation.

The second phase will involve finalization of the strategy development, again, in line with future rather than past needs, which guarantee the programs and services delivered by the association are relevant and of value to all members. Duffell will be working with a sub-committee of the Executive Board to achieve this within the coming six months.

The final phase will focus on implementation of the redefined programs and services, and will be strongly operational, in line with strategic assistance from the executive board. The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is a membership association acting as a catalyst for the responsible development of the Asia Pacific travel and tourism industry.
