Portugal Reports Steady Increase in U.S. Visitors

Portugal saw an increase in U.S. visitors this summer, and set a record for Americans arriving by cruise ship. Americans helped increase the incoming market ranking to the ninth largest and the sixth largest in terms of spending.

Over the last several years, Portugal has seen a steady rise in American visitation that the Portuguese National Tourism Office attributes to such factors as a steady rise in air capacity, Portugal being the closest nation in continental Europe to the U.S., and Portugal being one of the best values in Western Europe for the American traveler.
