Puerto Rico Launches New Tourism Marketing Campaign
The Government of Puerto Rico launched an island-wide economic development program that incorporates a new tourism marketing program at a press gathering in New York. The campaign, entitled “Puerto Rico Does It Better!,” features television, print and online advertising that positions the Caribbean island as a premium tourist destination featuring a diverse boutique, luxury and business hotels including several new properties, plus a modern tourism infrastructure including one of the largest sea ports in the Western hemisphere along with a major international airport.
As part of the program, Puerto Rico is seeking to reach an agreement with a private company to operate Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, said Jose Perez-Pena, Puerto Rico’s secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce. Privatizing the airport “will also result in world-class upgrades to the facility that will improve the experience for travelers and ensure the airport will operate safely and efficiently for years to come,” he said.
