RCI Modifies Oasis of the Seas Sailings

Royal Caribbean International announced an itinerary change to 16 Western Caribbean sailings of the new Oasis of the Seas, which is scheduled to begin service in December.

From May through November 2010, the ship will call at Mexico’s port of Costa Maya instead of the originally planned call at Falmouth, Jamaica, whose new port will not be completed time.

Its Western Caribbean itinerary also will include calls at Cozumel, Mexico; and Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private beach destination on the northern coast of Haiti. The ship is now scheduled to resume the original Western Caribbean itinerary and make its maiden call at the port of Falmouth during its December 11, 2010 sailing.

“The completion of the port is going to take longer than we had hoped, but Falmouth will be outstanding when it is completed,” said Craig Milan, senior vice president of land operations for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “We continue to look forward to calling at Falmouth on a regular basis with Oasis of the Seas and her sister ship Allure of the Seas.”

On the modified itineraries, the Oasis of the Seas will dock at Costa Maya’s recently restored pier. Shore excursions will include a sailing and snorkel trip via Catamaran Sail & Snorkel; an all-terrain vehicle ride to a secluded beach via ATV Jungle & Beach Adventure; and exploring the virtually unexcavated Chacchoben Mayan ruins in the jungle near the Belize border.

The Oasis of the Seas will alternate its Western Caribbean itinerary with an Eastern Caribbean itinerary, which will include calls at St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Nassau, Bahamas.
