Tourist Bridge Collapses, Kills Seven in Colombia

A popular tourist suspension bridge has collapsed in the region of Colombia killing at least seven people and leaving 14 people seriously injured. The bridge had overturned suddenly and immediately it hurled people more than 260 feet into a gorge.

The bridge that is located close to the Colombian city of Villavicencio is quite an important tourist attraction.

Authorities said that the bridge might have overturned on Monday. They feel that this popular tourist bridge had overturned since it was overloaded as it had undergone a busy three-day holiday weekend.

Officials said that they are scared that the death toll from this incident is likely to rise mainly due to the fact that a number of people have been severely injured.

Firefighters who arrived at the rescue scene said that the people who have died in this incident include two children and five adults.
