Vueling, Spain’s low fare airline, announced it is expanding its footprint in the UK beyond London Heathrow, with the launch of a regular scheduled flight from Cardiff Airport to Barcelona, on March 27th, 2012.

Air Canada said that it is disappointed to see an additional government fee levied on air travelers, referring to an additional $5.50 custom fee on travelers arriving in the United States by air from Canada.

Dutch flag carrier KLM will begin to offer three-times-a-week flights to Cuba starting Oct. 31, the Cuban tourism ministry announced. The flights, on 285-seat MD11 aircraft, will connect Amsterdam and Havana on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Gulfstream International Airlines said it will expand service to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island (FPO), with the launch of a new daily flight from West Palm Beach, Fla. (PBI). The new service begins Nov. 8. With the expanded service, Gulfstream now offers six daily weekday flights to Grand Bahama.

Barbados and Panama are "on the verge of cementing air links as a vital element" in their efforts to strengthen cooperation in the areas of tourism and culture. This disclosure came last evening from Minister of Industry, Small Business and Rural Development, Denis Kellman.

Airlines that change their rules, ownership structures and business arrangements at will pose a danger to the ongoing viability of the Caribbean tourism product. This was the message sent by Jamaica’s Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, as he addressed the UNWTO 19th General Assembly.
