British Airways announced that it will move its Atlanta originating flights to London Heathrow Airport from London Gatwick Airport starting March 29, 2009. The move to Heathrow, made possible through the Open Skies agreement signed last March between the USA and European Union, will provide Atlanta passengers the experience of arriving, departing or connecting through Heathrow’s Terminal 5, the newest and most technologically advanced airline terminal in Europe.
Pleasant Holidays has joined forces with Mexicana Airlines to offer $100 off per person on Mexicana flights. Reservations must be made by Oct. 30 for travel to Mexico through March 10.
JetBlue executives have made it clear that they’re seeing opportunities to make inroads on routes to South America and the Caribbean.
LAN Airlines is celebrating 50 years of service to the United States this year with an interactive online promotion running through Nov. 15 with a chance to win five round-trip tickets to anywhere the airline flies to in South America.
Iberia is again strengthening its presence in Central America. On January 4 the Spanish airline will operate a fifth weekly flight to Guatemala and Panama on Sundays to in addition to existing services on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The fourth frequency was added only last May, which indicates the success of this route.
JetBlue announced its plans to begin flights to its first-ever destination in South America, bringing the airline’s signature low fares and sense of style to the skies of Colombia. Daily nonstop service between Bogota and Orlando, Fla., will begin Jan. 29, 2009, with fares beginning at $99 each way.
