Barbados is set to benefit from nine direct British Airways flights from London, Gatwick, increasing weekly capacity by one hundred and ninety four (194) seats commencing October 26th, 2008.

Iberia declined to comment on Thursday regarding a report it was looking to bid for Spanair, while analysts warned of the dangers of an approach from the Spanish airline. Newspaper Cinco Dias said Iberia had hired Morgan Stanley to investigate a bid for Spanair which Scandinavian airline SAS has been looking to sell.

Barbados has a new winter service from Toronto, Sunwing Airlines, which made its inaugural flight to the island on Friday December 21, 2007. The flight is a product of greater efforts by the Barbados Tourism Authority’s Canadian office to capture a greater share of that target market.
