Continental Airlines launched nonstop Saturday service from LaGuardia Airport in the Big Apple to Aruba. The maiden flight departed at 7:50 a.m. and arrived in Aruba at 1:20 p.m. last Saturday. The return flight left Aruba at 2:30 p.m. and landed back in New York City at 6:15 p.m.
Continental Airlines begins daily nonstop flights between the airline´s hub at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is Continental´s ninth destination in South America and 77th Latin American and Caribbean destination.
GOL has executed definitive agreements for a joint venture to create a low-cost airline headquartered in Mexico. The joint venture is formalized by means of the incorporation of a Mexican-controlled holding company named Controladora Prosea S.A. de C.V., in which GOL will hold 25 percent of the voting capital stock and approximately 47.6 percent of the total capital stock, the remaining capital being subscribed by Mexican investors.
The island of Dominica will receive an early Christmas gift this year when Caribbean Sun Airlines begins daily flights to this destination on December 15. Speaking about the new service, Caribbean Sun and Caribbean Star President and Chief Executive Officer William “Skip” Barnette noted that the airlines´ strategic plan includes providing a greater quantity of flights to the region and promoting increased passenger traffic to the islands.
Vacation.com signed recently a preferred supplier agreement with Bahamasair to provide its member agents with the ability to earn incentive commissions for selling air travel to and within the Bahamas. Bahamasair, the national flag carrier of the Bahamas, operates daily from Nassau to 20 Bahamas destinations and four Florida destinations using Boeing 737 Jets, in addition to service into Providenciales, Turks & Caicos.
Air Canada announced it will launch daily nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Edmonton, in Canada´s Alberta, beginning May 1 next year. Flights will be operated by Air Canada Jazz with next-generation Bombardier CRJ-705 aircraft. Air Canada already offers nonstop service from Los Angeles to Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.
