
The sale is slated for completion by May 31, subject government approval and certain financing guarantees. Proceeds from the sale will be used to reduce Thomas Cook’s 788 million pounds of debt load. The company has had financial difficulties since 2011, due to decrease in sales.

TUI Travel has reported a nine per cent increase in bookings at its UK operations as poor winter weather drives Brits to book holidays earlier. TUI also reported higher margins on those holidays which were booked, with momentum also carried into the summer season.

Chairman of the Digicel Group Denis O’Brien says recent uncertainties around taxation have impacted the level of foreign direct investment in Jamaica and will drive away investors from the island. At the same time, he said, notwithstanding its foray into the hospitality industry in Haiti, the telecommunications outfit will not be entering the local tourism sector. Mr. O’Brien was addressing guests at the official opening of the Group’s headquarters in downtown Kingston last week.

In line with the Tourism Minister’s digital marketing strategy for Antigua and Barbuda, a new tourism high definition commercial has been produced and launched, which showcases why ‘the beach is just the beginning’ in Antigua and Barbuda. The 60 second commercial was released with a soft webcast.
