Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is confident it will secure the necessary 20 percent financing to complete the two 220,000-ton Oasis-class vessels now under construction in Finland. In a 10-K filing to the SEC this week, RCCL said it has commitments for financing guarantees from Finnvera, the export credit agency of Finland, for 80 percent of the financed amount.
Norwegian Cruise Line has announced it will homeport the Norwegian Sun at Port Canaveral, offering eastern and western Caribbean cruises in October 2010. It is the first Norwegian Cruise Line ship to homeport at Port Canaveral since the Norwegian Crown sailed Bermuda cruises in 1997.
Carnival Cruise Lines’ 2,052-passenger Carnival Sensation has undergone a multi-million-dollar renovation and emerged with a new water park, an adults-only retreat and a redesigned tropical themed main pool. Ninety-eight balconies were also incorporated onto existing ocean-view staterooms and a new Circle C facility for 12- to 14-year-olds was added as well.
San Diego Bay will host nine cruise lines during more than 200 voyages this year. San Diego is the year-round homeport for Carnival Cruise Lines’ Elation. Holland America Line and Celebrity Cruises also homeport ships seasonally in San Diego.
The Yachts of Seabourn said it is reducing the fares on European cruises this year by 50 to 65 percent off the published brochure fares. The new fares start at $2,999 per person for a seven-day Mediterranean voyage, based on double occupancy.
Globus is offering $200 off per person on the air-inclusive price of a Portugal river cruise when booked by March 31. Cruisers interested in booking their own airfare receive $100 off per person. The 11-day vacation begins with free time in Lisbon before traveling to Oporto to embark on a seven-night cruise.
