The Caribbean will once again attend the next edition of FITUR, the International Tourism Trade Fair, whose twenty-ninth edition will take place strong presence, thus reflecting the country’s interest in taking part in this established event and ideal forum for promoting the tourism business. According to the indicators established by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), the tourist industry recorded some highly favourable results over the first four months of the year, in spite of the uncertainty regarding the state of the world economy, which once again demonstrates the tourist industry’s considerable stability and strength.

Travel industry leaders from around the world will convene at the ITB Asia Convention in Singapore to face industry issues, which are at their most trying and tumultuous since 2003. The Convention is part of the inaugural ITB Asia, October 22 thru 24 in Singapore. Up to 5,000 travel delegates from more than 50 countries are expected to attend.

The Riviera Maya will host its sixth annual jazz festival at Mamitas Beach from Nov. 27 to 29. This year, the festival will draw crowds on the beach of Playa del Carmen, as it will host such jazz greats as Billy Cobham, Earl Klugh, David Sanborn, Hector Infanzon and others, all performing under a star-filled Riviera Maya sky.

Mazatlan announced the inaugural Mazatlan Bird Festival, set to take place Jan. 16 to 19, 2009, at Hotel Playa Mazatlan, Mexico.

Travel executives from five companies participated in a panel discussion titled “The Recession: Does It Manage You or Do You Manage It?” at TheTradeShow. The panel kicked off the Main Stage presentations at TheTradeShow when it opened in Orlando at 2 p.m. on Sept. 7.
