The beauty of Cuba´s underwater scenery, the diversity of its marine live and the government´s protection policy of sea bottoms were the main topics at the Second Expobuceo Meeting held this week on the island nation with a good turnout of local and foreign experts. The event teed off at Havana´s Copacabana Hotel and included grand tours around Varadero Beach in the north and the Zapata Peninsula in central Cuba.
Organized by the Argentina Association of Tourism and Travel Agencies, and Mendoza´s Association of Tourism and Travel Agencies, the 30th Congress of Travel Agents will unfold on June 24 through 26 at the Governor Emilio Civit de Mendoza Conference and Exposition Center. Under a motto reading "Tourism: Generator of Wellbeing and Thruster of the National Economy," the event will be divided in working sessions dealing with red-hot issues that play a major role in the travel industry. Some of those topics will broach air transport, legal and technical matters, national service providers, receptive tourism, training, ground transportation, travel retailers and wholesalers, among other issues.
A tribute to the Caribbean´s popular culture will be paid during an international workshop entitled “The Caribbean That Unites Us,” to be held within the framework of the 24th edition of the Fire Party, this time around dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Haiti´s independence. Kenia Dorte, the event´s organizer, explained that all preparations have been made at the Heredia Theater in Santiago de Cuba to accommodate the public and as many as 200 intellectuals from Haiti, France, Trinidad & Tobago, the Dominican Republic, Guyana and Cuba.
The Third National Tourism Summit will take place in July 15 and 16 in Chile´s Viña del Mar under a slogan reading "Culture and Technology in the Globalization Era." Planners are expecting a turnout of approximately some 500 entrepreneurs, let alone countless national and foreign experts that will focus on different topics and engage in exchanges on expertise, new ideas and experiences.

The new cigar shrine is penciled in as one of the fanciest houses ever built by the company around the globe. During the grand opening that took place over the weekend, attendants to the ceremony praised the finesse of the decoration, its roomy halls and well-stashed warehouses treasuring 33 trademarks and 240 brands.
The sixth Caribbean Media Exchange Conference on Sustainable Tourism (CMEx VI), is successfully taking place in Rodney Bay Village, June 24-28, featuring a high level participants who examining the impact of travel and tourism on Caribbean jobs and the economy. CMEx VI is considering tourism´s economic impact; the potential for unique tourism linkages; the use of renewable energy; issues of governance; Caribbean investment; tourism partnerships and the future of tourism. The impact of HIV/AIDS on sustainable tourism is again on the table and the future of tourism is, for the first time at CMEx, seen through the eyes of the youth.
