InterContinental Hotels Group announced the opening of the first Holiday Inn Express hotel for Managua, Nicaragua. The new-build, 114-room Holiday Inn Express Managua hotel is located minutes from the city center and within walking distance of the city’s most exclusive mall, Galerias Santo Domingo.

Several years ago, rumors began circulating that Puerto Rico would complete its luxury hotel scene with a new Four Seasons resort. The property is expected to open on the island's east coast, about 15 minutes from El Conquistador, and will have an estimated 300 rooms.

Another major hotel company is expanding in Colombia. Hilton announced that a new Hilton Garden Inn had opened its doors in the Caribbean port city of Barranquilla. The 223-room property is the brand’s first hotel in Colombia and Hilton’s seventh in the country.
