The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) is disappointed to hear of President Trump’s plan to reverse key elements of the trading relationship between the US and Cuba, as outlined by President Obama in 2014 and by his visit last year.

Although the Cuban travel policy will mean tighter travel restrictions, the resumption of direct U.S.-Cuba commercial flights, and new cruise line routes will remain.

Making good on a campaign pledge, President Donald Trump on Friday announced in Miami a significant rollback of former President Barack Obama’s accord with Cuba by clearly banning tourist travel to the island.

Wallace also said Caribbean islands tend to always measure number of tourists coming to their destinations as solid information about their tourism sector.

Shawn Crockwell, former minister of tourism development and transport for Bermuda from 2013 until he resigned from the post over the island’s immigration policy in March 2016, was found dead at his home on June 10.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has refused to reinstate the ban, which tries to limit travel from six predominantly Muslim countries, including Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
