The fact that tourism is such a thriving industry doesn't necessarily lead major actors to question the sustainability of their activities, when in fact there are serious issues at hand that are not restricted to a loosely environmental impact.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) remains optimistic that tourist arrivals from Spain will increase by 20 percent this year despite that country facing a recession. The expectation is based on Thailand remaining a value-for-money destination, particularly for honeymoons, said Juthaporn Rerngronasa, the TAT's deputy governor for international marketing in Asia and the South Pacific.
