New visitor figures show a rise in cruise ship business but air arrivals to the island are down through the first six months of the year, according to the Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA). Officials said Bermuda’s tourism business was still marked by “fragility” and showed only slight gains.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA) Greg Phillip listed a number of initiatives the Authority had taken which was showing success with attracting visitors to Nevis. NTA recently produce a new advertisement about the Nevis product which he stated had become necessary.
Following a strong picking up speed in the second half of the year, inbound tourism in Peru is expected to post a 7 percent growth by year-end 2014, Peruvian Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) said.
Magali Silva, Mincetur’s head, said that during the period ended May the above-mentioned sector recorded an expansion of 3.7 percent driven by the travel trade sector.

The new regional campaign will extend to include Caribbean consumers.
Aruba received 489,871 tourist stopover arrivals in the first six months of 2014, according to new data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization. That represented a 5.3 percent improvement over the first half of 2013, according to the CTO. The number was buoyed by a particularly strong summer period.
Mayflower Tours recently announced its People to People Travel program to Cuba. With a license granted to Mayflower Tours by the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, Mayflower Tours will operate its first departure in early 2015.
