Cuba, Trinidad & Tobago Sign Collaboration Agreement on Tourism
As part of the visit paid to Havana by Trinidad & Tobago’s tourism minister, Mr. Gerard Hadeed, an intergovernmental agreement on tourism collaboration between the two Caribbean islands was signed this week. Cuba’s tourism minister Manuel Marrero Cruz inked the document on behalf of the Republic of Cuba.
Collaboration to step up tourist flows between the two nations and boost the Caribbean multi-destination concept, coupled with training and fostering of investments, the professional exchange of scientific and technical expertise, the conduction of research studies and assessments on environmental impact, and the appraisal and development of new travel-oriented products are some of the document’s highlights.
Mr. Hadeed and his entourage made the Cuba visit on March 28-31 and the program included visits to heritage-rich facilities in Havana and to the National School of Hotel and Tourism Training (FORMATUR), where the delegation learned about Cuba’s professional training system for the local travel industry.
This intergovernmental agreement seeks to encourage collaboration in tourism while building on good relationships between the two Caribbean countries. It also looks to sharing experiences on the basis of the advance both Cuba and Trinidad & Tobago have achieved in this field.
