Jamaica's Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, the Hon. Dr. Wykeham McNeill has attributed several of the recent successes in the tourism sector to the improving public/ private sector partnership within the industry.

The Mexican Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR), in coordination with EarthCheck, presented the first round of "S" Distinction certificates at the Green Expo 2013 in Quintana Roo, Rivera Maya. At the presentation, General Director for Education, Training and Certifications Mr. Martin Vazquez Perez announced that EarthCheck Certified tourism businesses automatically qualified for the "S" Distinction.

This year’s World Tourism Day theme focuses on tourism’s significant role and contribution to worldwide water conservation efforts. The theme is in line with the UN General Assembly’s declaration of 2013 as the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation, providing the opportunity to further highlight the shared responsibility of the tourism sector to the wider sustainability objectives.

The Falkland Islands proved a huge hit in 2012, with the latest visitor arrivals released by the Falkland Islands Tourist Board (FITB) showing last year to be the best year for tourism since records began.
