The president rescinded some Cuban travel restrictions last January, and Houston's Bush Intercontinental airport has been named one of a handful of U.S. airports that can begin offering charter flights to Cuba. Those flights are not yet happening, but Houston could eventually benefit from increased travel to Cuba.

Anguilla is one of the countries that will be observing Caribbean Tourism Month this November, under the theme, “One Sea, One Voice, One Caribbean”. The program, which is endorsed by the Caribbean Tourism Organization, has as its primary objectives the creation of opportunities to raise awareness among the people of the Caribbean as to the importance of tourism.

Almost 16,000 additional hotel rooms are planned for the Caribbean island of Jamaica in the next few years creating 20,000 tourism jobs and attracting $60 billion in investment capital. The country has so far welcomed 763,000 crew ship and 1.5 million stopover visitors.

With billions to be invested in the tourism industry over the next few years and more than 20,000 jobs to be created, Prime Minister, Hon. Andrew Holness, says the outlook for the sector remains positive.

The China Tourism Academy (CTA) in Beijing reports further strong developments in domestic and outbound tourism in China for the first three quarters of 2011, while inbound tourism growth is still lagging behind. As a result, the trade deficit of China’s international travel surpassed 10 billion USD for the first time.

Barbados Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy has welcomed the 'highly productive' meetings held with officials and business leaders in Panama aimed at enhancing bilateral trade and boosting tourism receipts for both countries.
