Two leading research and consulting organizations for the Chinese tourism markets have agreed to join forces during the CITM, held in Kunming from Nov. 19 to 22. CITM in Kunming is the major tourism event for tourism trade organized by Chinese government officials. Even in times of economic crisis and growing competition, Chinese inbound, domestic and outbound tourism continues strong growth.
According to the monthly report to the European Travel Commission (CTC) by Donald N. Martin Company, Inc., American leisure visitors to Europe increased over the summer, though overall trans-Atlantic traffic (which includes European traffic to America) resumed its decline in September and October, as the leading carriers reported average drops of 2.6 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively, for those months.
St. Maarten is focusing on the variety of experiences that vacationers enjoy with a new branding campaign that captures the “feeling of the experience” that visitors elicit during their stay on the island.
The goal of some Italian regions wanting to re-vamp their image for the forthcoming 2010 tourism season 2010, is to renew their strategy for promotion of the destination. The Valle d’Aosta (Aosta Valley) is proceeding separately from the central government thanks to its status, which positions itself among the five privileged autonomous regions of Italy.
More hotels are now staying open throughout the winter months and a program entitled ‘Winter in Ibiza’ has been launched to highlight the cultural heritage, beautiful landscape and activities available on the island throughout the quieter months.
Back in September, the Canary Islands unveiled a new international campaign under the slogan “We’re sharing our good fortune”, with the aim to make the Canaries the preferred tourist destination for Europeans.
