Virgin Atlantic and Joby Aviation Formalize UK Air Taxi Partnership

Virgin Atlantic and Joby Aviation have signed a definitive commercial agreement to introduce electric air taxi services across the United Kingdom. The multi-year framework establishes the carrier as the exclusive airline partner for the manufacturer's zero-emission flights in the region.

Under the terms of the deal, passengers will be able to book air taxi connections alongside their long-haul flights directly through the airline's website and mobile application. The initiative aims to streamline multimodal travel and reduce transit times between major metropolitan centers and key transportation hubs.

Initial operations will focus on London Heathrow and Manchester Airport, serving as primary gateways for regional connectivity. Projected routes include a rapid eight-minute connection from Heathrow to central London, and a fifteen-minute flight connecting Manchester Airport to Leeds.

The collaboration extends Joby Aviation's broader alliance with Delta Air Lines, which maintains a forty-nine percent stake in Virgin Atlantic. By aligning their networks, the companies intend to replicate their U.S. community-to-airport transportation model overseas.

While Joby Aviation remains responsible for aircraft operations, route development, and regulatory certification through the UK Civil Aviation Authority, Virgin Atlantic will manage customer acquisition and digital booking integration. Both entities view the rollout as a critical milestone for advanced air mobility in Europe.
