Barbados announced an expanded version of its Welcome Stamp initiative, designed to attract digital nomads seeking to live and work on the island for up to 12 months. The revamped scheme builds on the program’s strong performance since its introduction in 2020.

The government will introduce streamlined visa procedures, reduced administrative fees, and tailored support services for relocating professionals. The expansion targets workers in technology, consulting, marketing, and creative industries.

New coworking zones and business hubs equipped with high-speed internet are planned for key areas, providing flexible collaborative spaces for remote workers and entrepreneurs.

Barbados also aims to strengthen partnerships with major airlines to secure competitive fares from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. These markets represent the majority of the island’s long-stay remote workforce.

A refreshed international branding campaign will emphasize the island’s lifestyle advantages, including safety, cultural richness, and tropical climate. Authorities hope to position Barbados as the leading digital-nomad destination in the Caribbean.

Hotel operators, villa managers, and real-estate developers have welcomed the update, noting that long-stay visitors contribute significantly to local spending and community engagement.

Government officials expect the enhanced Welcome Stamp to support continued tourism diversification and economic resilience through 2026 and beyond.
