Tourism reactivation stands for the perfect opportunity for the rebirth of a more resilient and sustainable industry.
Within this context, the Central American Travel Agency (CATA) is betting on higher levels of integration to guarantee the insertion of the regional tourism offer in the new global scenario that meets the demand of the post-COVID-19 traveler.
In that respect, CATA will develop the first major hackathon for the creation of multi-destination tourism products called "Juntos Sumamos", an unprecedented digital event which will come through within the framework of the strategy to strengthen tourism exchange and integration between the Dominican Republic and Central America.
The event will be held virtually on July 13 and 15, 2021, when more than 40 tour operators from the region will gather to rescue the essence of the destinations and generate offers that promote an integral experience between the two tourism worlds with a high sense of wellness and health.
Innovation, digital transformation and competitiveness are some of the main areas CATA focuses on in its efforts to speed up tourism’s comeback, so the development of this event seeks to facilitate and encourage networking among actors in the regional tourism industry for the creation of unique packages based on culture, archeology, nature, wellness, sun and beach.
Airlines operating in the region are also joining the initiative to chip in to the buildup of multi-destination packages with special emphasis on connectivity between destinations in order to create offers tailored to the demands of travelers. That is why Volaris, Copa Airlines and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) will participate as coaches in the First Hackathon for the creation of tourism products.
This effort is part of the initiatives promoted by CATA's Board of Directors and implemented with the Tourism Promotion Agency, executed by the company Moreturismo Internacional, with the aim of regenerating the fabric that gives life to the tourism value chain in Central America and the Dominican Republic.
