Disney to Open New Theme Park in Abu Dhabi

The Walt Disney Co. is expanding its global footprint with the announcement of a brand-new theme park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. This marks Disney’s seventh global theme park destination, joining its existing locations in California, Florida, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
The project is the result of a partnership with Miral, an Abu Dhabi-based entertainment company known for developing major attractions in the region, including Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, and Etihad Arena. An official opening date for the new park has yet to be revealed.
The new Disney park will be fully developed and built by Miral, with creative and operational support from the renowned Walt Disney Imagineers, the team responsible for Disney’s signature attractions and storytelling experiences.
While few specific details have been released, Disney confirmed the park will include signature Disney entertainment, themed accommodations, unique dining and retail experiences, and immersive storytelling that reflects both Disney’s heritage and the cultural and futuristic essence of Abu Dhabi.
According to Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro, the Abu Dhabi park will be “the most advanced and interactive destination in our portfolio,” offering guests completely new ways to experience Disney stories.
“This project will reach guests in a whole new part of the world, welcoming more families to experience Disney than ever before,” D’Amaro said. “Ultimately, it will be a celebration of what’s possible when creativity and progress come together.”
