Spain Reports Record Tourism Revenue for Summer 2025

Spain has reported record-breaking tourism revenue for the summer season, with earnings surpassing €55 billion between June and August 2025. The figure marks a 12% increase compared to the same period last year, consolidating Spain’s position as Europe’s leading travel destination.
According to the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism, visitor arrivals were particularly strong from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and the United States. Domestic travel also contributed significantly to the overall results.
The success has been attributed to diversified offerings, including cultural tourism, gastronomy, coastal resorts, and eco-friendly rural destinations. Spain’s ongoing investment in sustainable tourism infrastructure has also helped attract a new wave of conscious travelers.
Cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, and Seville recorded high hotel occupancy, while beach destinations in the Balearic and Canary Islands saw near-capacity levels. Analysts note that average spending per tourist has risen due to increased demand for premium experiences.
The Spanish government emphasized that the record figures highlight the sector’s resilience and importance to the national economy. Tourism currently accounts for more than 12% of Spain’s GDP.
Looking ahead, Spain aims to consolidate its growth by focusing on sustainability, digital innovation, and expanding connectivity to long-haul markets.
