USVI Appoint Jennifer Matarangas-King as New Tourism Commissioner

The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism has named Jennifer Matarangas-King as its new Commissioner of Tourism, bringing over 30 years of experience in communications, public affairs, and organizational leadership.
A native of St. Croix, Matarangas-King has an intimate knowledge of the islands and has served in prominent roles, including Press Secretary to Governor Roy Schneider and Director of Public Relations for Senator Vargrave Richards.
She succeeds Joseph Boschulte, who led the territory’s tourism efforts for six years, achieving record-breaking air and cruise arrivals and elevating the USVI as a leading Caribbean destination.
Matarangas-King emphasized that tourism is “one of the most powerful tools for shaping the future of the Virgin Islands”, driving investment, entrepreneurship, and the promotion of the territory’s cultural identity. She pledged to work alongside industry partners and the Department’s team to enhance the tourism product, empower residents, and expand the USVI’s reach as a premier Caribbean destination.
Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. praised her as “a strategist, skilled communicator, and proud islander deeply committed to public service”, expressing confidence that she will lead the territory’s tourism sector “with vision and distinction.”
With this appointment, the U.S. Virgin Islands aim to strengthen their international presence and continue their growth as one of the region’s most competitive destinations.
