Caribbean Airlines has forged a new codeshare agreement with Air Caraïbes, enabling travelers to book seamless itineraries between the Caribbean and Europe. Destinations such as Paris-Orly, Guadeloupe, and Martinique are now more accessible, while passengers from Europe gain improved connections into hubs including Trinidad, Barbados, and St. Lucia.

As part of its route optimization, the airline is also discontinuing service on the Jamaica → Fort Lauderdale route, effective November 2, 2025, citing poor load factors and financial non-viability.

The move is intended to reallocate resources toward more profitable or high-demand routes, and the codeshare is expected to mitigate some impact for travelers who used that Jamaica-Florida link, by offering alternative connections.

For travelers, this development means more options for European travel via Caribbean Airlines and Air Caraïbes, though it also calls for awareness of changing schedules and ticketing arrangements.

Cruise and tourism representatives in Jamaica have expressed concern over the loss of the Ft. Lauderdale link, especially since U.S. gateway access has become more crucial for Caribbean destinations seeking high-spending tourists.

Overall, the change illustrates how airlines in the Caribbean are adapting their networks — balancing demand, cost, and strategic partnerships to maintain connectivity and profitability.
