The Dominican Republic expects to surpass all previous records for air connectivity during the upcoming winter travel season, driven by increased international demand and new routes from North America and Europe.

The Ministry of Tourism confirmed that major carriers from Canada, United States, Spain and Germany have expanded their flight schedules to destinations including Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata.

Tour operators revealed that early bookings for the holiday season are already 18% higher than last year, making the Dominican Republic one of the fastest-growing markets in the Caribbean.

New investments in airport infrastructure are supporting the growth. The remodel of Punta Cana International Airport now allows faster arrivals and shorter wait times at immigration.

Hoteliers say that improved connectivity is driving a surge of luxury tourism, particularly in high-end all-inclusive resorts and boutique beachfront properties.

Despite concerns about over-tourism, authorities are implementing monitoring systems to protect beaches and natural areas, keeping the tourism model aligned with sustainable development benchmarks.

The Dominican Republic aims to close 2025 as the first Caribbean destination to exceed nine million international visitors in a single year.
