Volaris Costa Rica has announced the inauguration of three new international routes connecting San José with Miami, Orlando, and Tulum, marking a major expansion of its regional operations. These flights, which begin in early July, represent a milestone for the ultra-low-cost airline, particularly with Miami and Orlando becoming its first direct connections to the United States.

The new services will launch on July 1 to Orlando, July 2 to Tulum, and July 4 to Miami, with fares starting from US$79 each way plus taxes to Miami and Tulum, and US$89 to Orlando. These routes are part of Volaris Costa Rica's ongoing strategy to enhance connectivity between Costa Rica, Mexico, and the U.S., offering low fares and reliable service with one of the region’s most modern fleets.

The San José–Tulum route is particularly significant as Volaris becomes the only airline offering a direct connection between the two cities. This move not only boosts tourism between Costa Rica and Mexico but also encourages greater cultural and commercial exchange, highlighting Tulum as a rising destination for Costa Rican travelers.

With Miami and Orlando ranking among the top destinations for Costa Ricans and Central Americans, Volaris Costa Rica is now the only ultra-low-cost carrier to operate nonstop flights from San José to both cities. These routes are expected to facilitate travel for both tourists and business travelers, and promote investment in sectors such as trade, technology, and real estate.

The expansion increases the airline’s network to eight international routes, including existing services to Mexico City, Guadalajara, Cancún, Guatemala City, and Los Angeles. According to Ronny Rodríguez, Director of Corporate Development and Sustainability, the airline continues to transform mobility habits in the region, making air travel more accessible and frequent for Central Americans.

Authorities including William Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism, and Ricardo Hernández, Executive Director of AERIS, praised the new routes as timely and strategic for strengthening Costa Rica’s international connectivity. The announcement also included news of increased frequencies on the San José–Guadalajara route, which will double from two to four weekly flights starting in July, due to growing demand.
