Regional multi-destination promotion will be one of the central objectives of the Central America Travel Market (CATM) in 2024. The event, designed to promote the development of the so-called "smokeless industry" in the region, will mark the beginning of a more innovative diversification promotion vision, with the country being the forerunner.

In promoting variety, the main efforts will be directed to Europe, specifically aimed at promoting beach destinations, mountains, towns and buildings with years of history, now part of a coordinated process of recovery in downtown San Salvador.

El Salvador is making efforts to position the country as a competitive and safe destination to visit, so the realization of these events will help the country even more, since CATM is the opportunity to present both the multidestination and the attractions of each nation.

CATM had its last edition in Guatemala, in 2019 and after the recess due to the pandemic, El Salvador will host it with a strategy of diversification of supply, where visitors can opt for packages that include different nations.

El Salvador is currently showing a recovery in the number of visitors, and in the first four months of the year reached one million visitors out of a plan of about three million for this year, according to the authorities, who are also promoting an ambitious promotional program to increase the housing stock.

The advance of visits in these months represented 42 percent more than in the same period of 2022, when the country reached 725 thousand guests and 24 percent more than in 2019, when 821 thousand tourists arrived at that date.
