Argentine embassy in Spain held a promotional event on Friday to present the Argentinean city of San Antonio de Areco to the world, especially looking forward to attracting more Chinese tourists.

San Antonio de Areco, 100 kilometers from Buenos Aires, was the subject of the promotional event.

“San Antonio de Areco is the synthesis of what Argentina is. Tourists will find gauchos (Argentinean cowboys) and other artists, such as great writers. We have all of the elements of our history and tradition there,” Argentina’s Ambassador to Spain Ramos Puerta told Xinhua.

The event was organized by the Argentinean embassy as part of its preparations for the FITUR international tourism fair which will be held here next week, and focused on the importance of the “gauchos” who are vital to the cattle farming of Argentina’s flatlands.

Those attending the event were able to enjoy a display of traditional clothing and regional dances. The ambassador said they would be delighted to see Chinese tourists visit their country.

Francisco Duranona, official of San Antonio de Areco, also said that attracting Chinese tourists was key to the area’s growth.

“We have seen Chinese tourists are very interested in knowing the history, culture and products of San Antonio (de Areco). It is very important for us that Chinese tourists come to our home,” he commented.
