Fairmont to Run El San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is assuming the management of the El San Juan Hotel in San Juan, effective Jan. 2, Travel Weekly reports.

It is currently part of Hilton Hotels’ Curio Collection and managed by Hilton. The property will be rebranded as the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel.

The iconic property, which opened in 1958, will mark the debut of the Fairmont brand in Puerto Rico.

ESJResort, the hotel’s ownership group, will continue to own the 388-room property, which is on San Juan’s Isla Verde beach, a short drive from the airport.

The El San Juan reopened in December 2018 following a $65 million restoration and renovation project due to damage from Hurricane Maria in September 2017.

The hotel’s existing reservations system will remain open through Jan. 2; all reservations for arrivals after this date will be honored by Fairmont.
