H World Group Expands into Laos with Debut of Four Properties

Global hospitality giant H World Group has officially entered the Laotian market with the signing of four hotel management agreements, marking a major step in its international growth strategy and deepening its presence in Southeast Asia.
The signing ceremony, held in Vientiane on May 29, signifies H World’s commitment to its “asset-light and internationalization” model. The projects will be developed in collaboration with three local partners: Lao Kunpeng Industrial Co., Ltd., Yuting Hotel Investment Management Co., Ltd., and KP Construction Sole Co., Ltd.
“This signing of four hotels in Laos is an important step for H World in promoting localized management and building a deeply rooted network across the region,” said Zhu Xiaogang, President of H World Asia Pacific.
The projects span the Laotian capital and the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang, and include:
-
Intercity Hotel Vientiane: Located near Wattay International Airport and the Sanjiang Area, this upper-midscale hotel will open in early 2026.
-
Intercity Hotel Luang Prabang: Slated for 2027, this property in the historic center will blend local heritage with the brand’s modern style.
-
JI Hotel Vientiane Mekong Riverside: Positioned along the scenic Mekong River in downtown Vientiane, this hotel will open in early 2026, becoming the first JI Hotel in Laos and the second in Southeast Asia, following its debut in Singapore.
-
Orange Hotel Vientiane International Airport: The first Orange Hotel outside China, this midscale hotel near the airport will open in Q3 2026.
H World emphasized its confidence in delivering high-quality, full-lifecycle services to its partners. Local developers praised the company’s brand strength, operational expertise and digital ecosystem, forecasting a positive impact on Laos’ hospitality landscape.
The timing aligns with a sharp rise in regional travel demand. In 2024, Laos welcomed over 1.97 million international tourists via the China-Laos Railway, a more than threefold increase year-on-year, with Chinese tourists making up over 60% of arrivals.
H World’s entry is expected to enhance hospitality standards and diversify accommodation offerings for the growing number of travelers exploring Laos as a key stop along China’s Belt and Road corridor.
