Discovery Cruise to Include Departure Fees in Prices

Discovery Cruise Line will now include in its advertised prices Bahamian departure fees and other add-on charges.

In January, Discovery announced an all-inclusive approach that includes all-you-can-eat meals and all-you-can-drink beverage service. But there were still add-ons for Bahamian departure fees and other charges.

Effective June 13, the new rates for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday sailings will be start at $99.99 per person for “Fun Day” cruises. Two-day, one-night “Cruise ‘N Stay” vacation packages will start at $139.99 per person, double occupancy. The motto of a new advertising campaign will be “Not 1 Cent More.” Weekend sailings continue to have a surcharge of $10 per person.

The ship departs at 10 a.m. and arrives in Grand Bahama at 2 p.m. The cruise includes the breakfast buffet, all beverages, sun decks with entertainment and games, the new club lounge with DJ, a Wii room with games, a kids club, movies and a casino. For “Fun Day” cruises, kids under age 2 sail for $30 and kids 12 and under sail for $69.99.

For “Cruise ‘N Stay” packages, kids under age 2 sail and stay for only $30, and kids 12 and under are $85, in each case when accompanied by a full fare paying adult. Prices are good for cruises booked by June 30 with travel taken by Sept. 1.
