HAL Unveils 55 New Shore Excursions for Summer 2010

Holland America Line has put together 55 new tours for the 2010 summer season.
The new excursions include an afternoon of Cognac-sampling in France; a nostalgic steam-hauled train ride across the Glenfinnan Viaduct, the 21-arch, 1,000-foot span featured in the Harry Potter and Narnia films; and a flight-seeing brown bear and wildlife tour in Southeast Alaska.
Holland America Line will, for the first time, pay calls to Anchorage, Alaska. Shore excursion highlights include fly-in fishing expeditions to Alaska backcountry, a sled dog rodeo, flight-seeing safaris through the Chugach Mountain Range and over Capt. James Cook’s Turnagain Inlet in search of beluga whales, a Prince William Sound Glacier cruise, a full-day ride aboard the historic Alaska Railroad to Talkeetna, a guided, fly-out bear-watching tour, and a visit to Wildberry Park and Anchorage Museum, home of many Native Alaskan art and artifacts.
In addition, 17 new excursions have been added to the Europe itineraries. Featured tours include a tour in Montenegro, with visits to The Old Town, a 15th century walled city in Budva, followed by a coastal tour to Kotor, a medieval Mediterranean town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Another is a drive across the Macedonian countryside to Pella, birthplace of Alexander the Great, where guests can explore archeological sites dating from the 4th century BC. Also new is a tour of Dublin’s historic Jewish community whose presence in Ireland can be traced back to 1079.
