Aeromexico Begins San Francisco-Mexico City Service

Government, civic and business officials from Aeromexico, San Francisco International Airport, the Mexican Consulate and other organizations celebrated the airline’s inauguration of daily, non-stop service between San Francisco and Mexico City.

The first flight departed San Francisco International Airport at 7 a.m. PST with arrival in Mexico City scheduled at 1:20 p.m. CST. Presentations marking the occasion were made by Frank Galan, vice president of U.S. operations for AeroMexico; Consul General Carlos Felix of the Mexican Consulate; Kandace Bender, deputy airport director for San Francisco International Airport; and Giancarlo Mulinelli, U.S. western region director for AeroMexico.

Daily flights from Mexico City depart at 7:05 p.m. CST and arrive in San Francisco at 10:15 p.m. PST. In addition to the new San Francisco service, AeroMexico currently operates nonstop flights in Los Angeles, Ontario and San Diego, Calif., to Mexico City with connecting service to other destinations in Mexico. Boeing 737/700 aircraft are used on the international flights.

The airline now services 16 major U.S. cities in 11 states. Non-stop service added since Jan. 29 includes Las Vegas-Mexico City; Denver-Mexico City; and Albuquerque-Chihuahua City, Chihuahua. Other U.S. cities served are Seattle-Tacoma, Phoenix, San Antonio, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, New York City, Orlando and Miami.

On March 3, the airline will expand its overall North American operations with its first Canadian service featuring non-stop flights between Toronto and Mexico City.
