Camaguey to Host FITCuba 2014 Post-Event Tour

As one of the outstanding cities because of the patrimonial preservation and 500 years of history behind its walls, Camagüey will receive delegates and guests of the International Tourism Show, 2014 FITCuba, who will be there on May 11 and 12.
Within the framework of its 500th anniversary, multiple spaces have been restored in the city so they can join the tourism sector, such as small hotels, bars and recreational and cultural centers, which are going to be visited by tour operators, representatives of travel agencies and specialized press.
One of the main goals of the forum, to be held throughout the country starting today, is the promotion and recognition of patrimonial and historic values of Cuban cities, especially in Trinidad, Bayamo, Santiago de Cuba, Havana and Camagüey, among others.
As for the last one, the attendees will have the opportunity to see the renovations that have taken place in the main commercial areas of the historic core, whose oldest section was declared World’s Cultural Heritage in 2008, and it includes high-standard hotels such as Camino de Hierro, Santa María, La Avellaneda and El Marqués.
Operated by Encanto chain, Cubanacán Group, these hotels feature customized attention in intimate spaces and respect the city’s traditional architecture.
According to the program given by INFOTUR to the press, the visitors are also going to enjoy the national and internationally acclaimed cultural talent of the territory, and they will visit night clubs in the city.
The opening of 2014 FITCuba to the public tees off today and, through Saturday, it will be showcasing tourism products that include summer offers of travel agencies, the summer plan of extra-hotel Palmares company, and services provided by private restaurants and rental houses.
Recent data shows an 8 percent growth in the number of foreign visitors that arrived in Camagüey over the past high season of international tourism.
