Following a renovation, the 639-room ClubHotel Riu Gran Canaria reopened on July 20. The renovation was designed to freshen up the property with a special eye towards family travelers employing brighter colors. RiuLand, an area on the grounds geared toward children, features a pool with slides and games.

The hotel is located on the sea at Maspalomas, in the south of Gran Canaria. The buffet has three specialty restaurants for evening meals: an Asian option, a grill and a restaurant serving up Canarian cuisine. The new "AfterHours" bar, which is open from midnight until 8 a.m., proves the focus isn’t only on children.

Adults will have two pools, each with their own bars, and the children’s pool features a waterfall, a spaceship and a huge dragon with games and slides. The hotel has added a full schedule of activities including a program for teenagers called RI4U. A gym, volleyball courts and a Spa add a health and wellness element to the property.
