Cuba, China Sign Agreement to Build Golf Course on West Side of Havana

The signing took place during the final day of the 35th International Travel Fair, which was held since May 5 in Jardines del Rey, Cuba’s fourth tourism circuit.
The letter of intention was inked with the presence of Mr. Zhang Tuo, China’s ambassador to Cuba, thus giving the green light to the establishment of a joint venture to build a golf course in the area of Bello Monte, on the west side of Havana.
Wuang Dong, President of Beijing Enterprise Group and Jose Reinaldo Daniel, Business Director with Cuba’s Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), signed the letter that represents another step taken by the island nation to diversify its extra hotel offer, which includes the creation of other golf courses and recreation options related to nautical sports and excursions to natural landscapes in such provinces as Pinar del Rio, Havana, Matanzas, Villa Clara, Ciego de Avila and Holguin.
This agreement meets one of the memorandums of understanding signed on June 22, 2014 between the island nation and the Asian giant, within the framework of the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the Cuban capital city, when 29 agreements were inked in order to intensify the cooperation between both countries.
The 35th edition of ITF was attended by companies and tour operators from over 40 countries, including 120 representatives of U.S. travel agencies, and business sessions has been held between entrepreneurs and supplying companies for the Cuban market.
