Delta opens its first office ticket sales in Havana

Delta Air Lines became the first airline in the US. UU. to open a ticket office or CTO, for its acronym in English, in Havana in preparation for the start of its daily nonstop flights to the Cuban capital on December 1.

Office ticket sales, located in the popular area of ??"La Rampa" in the center of Havana, opened last week and has received a great welcome by hundreds of Cubans who wish to travel to Miami, a destination natural for the Cubans, as well as to other parts of the world.

"It is a pleasure to offer our customers the opportunity to reconnect with family and to discover other destinations in the US. UU. and the world, "said Jose" Pepe "Zapata, general manager of Delta Air Lines for Central America and the Caribbean. "The itineraries of our three daily flights that go to and from Havana to JFK, Miami and Atlanta are so made that offer our customers access to hundreds of destinations".

Visits to the ticket office and the amount of ticket sales increased dramatically after news media in Cuba, the US. UU., Mexico, Brazil and other Latin American countries published more than 50 stories as a result of the first editorial board conducted by a US airline with Cuban media. Zapata met on Thursday with a dozen reporters and editors to open a dialogue on the aviation industry. The editorial board gave the local media an overview of the way Delta conducts its business and operations, and served as a platform to announce the opening of the ticket office in Havana.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, ticket offices are an important means of sales because they allow customers to interact with experts from Delta, get advice and ideas for travel and establish trust in the brand. The ticket office in La Rampa is open from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. Although the transactions are made only time in CUC or Cuban convertible pesos, soon the airline will offer customers the possibility of purchasing tickets by credit card.

"The payment flexibility is important for our customers and we want to provide the most options possible," Zapata said. "We will also offer customers free access CTO Wi-Fi to be provided with the collecting data on travel options delta.com, while waiting to buy tickets."

Delta's first trip to Havana from Miami, followed by the flight from JFK in New York and closing with the first flight from Atlanta, site of the airline. The three historic flights mark the return of Delta as the only US airline to return to Cuba after 55 years. The flights will transport dignitaries, leaders of Delta and customers.
