Israel Reports Breaking Tourism Records in 2008

The Israel Tourism Commission reports that more visitors traveled to Israel in 2008 than in any year since the independent State of Israel was founded in 1948. It was the first time ever more than three million tourists came to Israel in a single year.
The United States is Israel’s number-one source of tourism, followed by the United Kingdom, Russia and France. Close to three-quarters of a million North Americans visited Israel in 2008 –also a record.
