JetBlue to Step Up Palm Springs-NYC Service in October

JetBlue is starting its fourth season of nonstop flights between Palm Springs and New York a month early this year.

Beginning Oct. 10, JetBlue will offer nighttime flights four times a week to and from Palm Springs International and John F. Kennedy International in New York – then expand to daily service in mid-December, the airline announced Wednesday morning.

The airline will also bring its Mint service – featuring lie-back seats, tapas-style menu, fresh espressos, personal amenities, signature cocktails and more – back to PSP, this year on a daylight schedule from Dec. 20 through Jan. 3.

“For a fourth season, JetBlue will be bringing easy, nonstop access for our East Coast travelers, delivering visitors to our oasis feeling relaxed and pampered and ready to enjoy our perfect weather, outdoor adventure, world-class events and more,” said Scott White, Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau president and CEO.

Palm Springs International Airport had a record 2017, serving more than 2.1 million passengers – a 5.1 percent increase over 2016.

In addition to the expanded PSP service, JetBlue on Wednesday announced a variety of additional flights – including Mint service – for Southern California, including a return to Ontario International Airport, increased service in Burbank and added popular coast-to-coast routes.

Starting Sept. 5, JetBlue will offer nonstop service between Ontario and New York’s JFK.

JetBlue previously served Ontario between 2000 and 2008 and was originally the airline’s sixth overall destination and the first on the West Coast. The airline is returning, encouraged by the surge in customer demand in the Inland Empire as well as the airport’s leadership position on “smart growth in Southern California,” airline officials said.

Starting in December, the airline will also offer nonstop service twice a week from Long Beach to Steamboat Springs, Colo.

JetBlue will also add nonstop service from Long Beach to Montana’s Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, starting Dec. 15. A second daily flight between Boston and Long Beach will be added starting Sept. 5.

At Hollywood Burbank Airport, where JetBlue has operated since 2005, the airline will add a second northeast destination with nonstop flights to Boston, starting Sept. 5 when the airline will also add a second daily nonstop flight from Burbank to New York’s JFK.

In addition to supporting the airline’s West Coast strategy, the schedule enhancements grow the number of nonstop choices in JetBlue’s New York, Boston and Fort Lauderdale focus cities, airline officials said.

JetBlue’s transcontinental flights now make up roughly 15 percent of all JetBlue flying and have boosted the airline’s profitability.

The airline carries more than 40 million passengers per year to 101 cities in the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America, according to its website.
