JW Marriott to Open 10 New Properties in 2010

JW Marriott plans to open 10 properties in five countries in 2010, bringing the total global portfolio of the brand to 54 hotels and resorts and 24,000 rooms. This growth represents an investment exceeding $2 billion by JW Marriott property owners and franchisees.

The 10 JW Marriott hotels and resorts opening in 2010 include Hangzhou, China; Bogota, Colombia; Bengeluru, Chandigarh and Chennai, India; Ankara, Turkey; and San Antonio, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago in the United States. An additional 20 JW Marriott hotels are also under construction or in development in 13 countries, including such diverse locations as The Maldives, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Puerto Rico and Indianapolis.

The 330-room JW Marriott Hotel Hangzhou will open in June. The 250-room JW Marriott Bengeluru will be located near Bengalore’s commercial center, and the 175-room JW Marriott Hotel Chandigarh is scheduled to open late this year. The 371-room JW Marriott Hotel Chennai is also slated to open later this year and in November, the 416-room JW Marriott Ankara will make its debut in Turkey.

In South America, the 264-room JW Marriott Bogota is slated to open in mid-July and in the U.S., the 1,002-room JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country opened this past January and the 878-room JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. Live was unveiled in February. Also in the U.S., the 313-room JW Marriott Marquis Miami is also set to open in mid-July and the 610-room JW Marriott Chicago is taking shape in the $396 million restoration of one of Chicago’s historic landmarks, the Continental & Commercial National Bank building designed by architect and city planner Daniel Burnham in 1914. The property is set to open in September.
